The U.S.S. Alaric's Summary of the

Region One Summit 2001 - Other Saturday Meetings

As at all of the Summits, Saturday was filled with meetings...

Command Officer's Luncheon:

The focus of the meeting was fund raisers. Jack would like to start a Region One Space Camp Scholarship Fund. Per child it costs $800 to send a child to Space Camp. This cost covers everything except transportation.

Ask The Fleet Staff:

I asked FAdm. Rickard about the FDC Science position. As far as I knew, the position became vacant when Rick Driver resigned. I've sent emails to Gordon Goldberg and Dustin Williams about the position, as I'm interested in applying for it, but I haven't heard any response from them (as of 6-17-01).

Other subjects which were discussed included fleet finances, ship rosters online, Starfleet Help Desk, and ideas for standardized certificate format (just don't print the certificates on red paper!!).

FAdm. Les Rickard, Chris Wallace, Mark Anbinder, Don Willits, Tammy Willcox:

RDC Meeting:

Because of the low attendance at the Summit, attendance in the Saturday afternoon meetings was sparse.

Sciences Divisional Meeting:

We discussed general divisional stuff, including the Science Division's web page (http://alaricrh.home.sprynet.com/science/R1Science.htm), then I answered questions from the Chief Science Officers present. We also reviewed some of the fun science things their ships could do.

At the General Session, I announced the winners of the 2000 Science Division Awards. We did not have any nominations for the Steven R. Hawking and Galileo awards. The winners of the Albert Einstein Award for Regular Article Submission were selected based on having sent monthly reports to me (RDC Science) for all 12 months of 2000, OR having submitted reports/articles to both of the newsletters that were published last year. The winners of the Einstein Award are:

Costuming:

Brian Holloway led an excellent discussion of the designing and making of costumes. Even though I have zero talent in that area, I was riveted by his discussion and anecdotes.
