In April of 1999, the Alaric adopted the official club motto, "Exploring and Defending the Frontier of the Federation," to reflect our being the flagship of Region One Sciences, being the home of the Sciences RDC and having a growing Marines contingent.

This motto replaced our earlier club motto, "We'll get by with a little help from our friends."  In the spirit of our earlier motto, we'd like to take this opportunity to say "Thank You" to the various friends and associates of the U.S.S. Alaric:

Thank you to Captain Susan Vaughn for sharing her AOL account early on so that our officers could keep in touch with each other before they got email accounts of their own.

Thanks to the Asheville Public Library Main Branch and the South Buncombe Library in Arden for providing us with meeting space over the years.

Thank you to Commander Ian "Krell" Johnsson and Ensign Robert Saucier for donating the server space to host the club's web site.

A special thanks to Timothy Jordan. Timothy runs a local computer bulletin board system, Rhapsody BBS. Prior to the Alaric's venture into the Internet and their own web page, the Alaric was given space on Timothy's BBS to set up a message base, allowing those members with computers to keep in touch electronically. Our first step as a club into the virtual world!

Thanks to Jeffrey Blackwell, for the most recent redesign of the Alaric web site.
